Dear Faculty Colleagues,

In late July the Deans forwarded the linked document for your review in light of the upcoming graduate student union election on September 19, 20 and 21. All stipended and hourly graduate students who provided teaching or research services beginning in fall 2022 may vote. Graduate students on a fellowship are excluded. You may get questions from students, or students may want to engage with you or others in or outside of class about this issue. It is important that you review the linked guidance for navigating these discussions.

If you have questions that are not addressed in this guidance, please refer them to the Associate Dean for Graduate Education in your college, or the relevant Associate Dean who handles graduate student matters. For purposes of managing the volume of questions, please do not reach out with specific inquiries about who is and is not included in the group, as these are being managed by legal counsel with the NLRB.

Best,

Deb Franko Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs
