We hope you are enjoying your summer and staying kewl!
Our GENU-UAW Bargaining Committee met again with the Northeastern Administration as we fight for our first Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). We introduced a plethora of proposals addressing: Childcare, Relocation, Retirement, Tax Assistance, Past Practice, Tuition and Fees, Vacations, and a proposal for a state of the art Artificial Intelligence article. We also passed back a counter-proposal on Jobs Postings. You can read these and all previously passed proposals on our website.
Additionally, the university gave us counter proposals on our previously passed articles issues we have been raising at the bargaining table for months, and replaced it with language from their insufficient “take it or leave it” deal. They have also made it clear they do not respect our work, because at every instance they replace the phrase “student worker” with “student” and they also suggested the status quo for both Training and Travel Reimbursements ought to remain the status quo.
If you have not yet filled out your Bargaining Survey please do so ASAP. Survey results will ensure that we can mobilize around the issues that we really care about and will determine the outcome of our contract. It only takes 15 minutes.
Lastly, if you want to make sure that our first contract meets our needs please join our Contract Action Team (CAT). The CAT supplements the Bargaining Committee and makes sure that our contract demands will be met.
In Solidarity,
GENU-UAW Bargaining Committee
