In just one month from today, on September 19th, 20th and 21st, we will be voting to officially recognize our union, GENU-UAW! Once we do, Northeastern’s administration will be required by law to sit down with us and bargain over our wages, employee benefits, and establish protections from over-work, abuse, harassment and discrimination.
Graduate workers all over the country are forming unions and negotiating for better working contracts with their universities too. WPI graduate workers voted to form their union in November of last year, and are in the process of voting on their first union contract this week! By winning this election with an overwhelming majority of ‘yes’ votes, we can build that same power here.
Election Details
Voting will take place in the Tents on Robinson Quad (behind Curry Student Center, between Mugar and Robinson). Voting will be open from 10 AM to 12 PM, then reopen at 2 PM to 6 PM each of the three days.
Everyone can pitch in by helping to turn out voters from all over campus. Talk to your colleagues and friends to find a time when you can go to the polls together!
