All members of GENU-UAW are hereby nominated for the GENU-UAW Elections Committee. If you accept nomination, you will be responsible for assisting in planning and overseeing the election of our first bargaining committee of the union as well as handling any future votes/elections this year (if any, as dictated in the UAW Constitution). A healthy and transparent democracy is the foundation of how we work together as a union, and your work on the elections committee is what makes that possible!
Before we can have bargaining committee elections, we need an Elections Committee in place. This is our first elections committee, so we need to fill all of the positions, up to ten (10) positions. Please respond to this email if you accept the nomination. To do so, you must be a member of the union. You can join at any time by signing an authorization card.
After the close of nominations, all members who accepted nomination will be appointed to the committee. Then the committee will meet and later announce details for the nomination and election for the bargaining committee positions.
Please note, elections committee members are not allowed to campaign for any candidates, and must remain neutral during the campaigning. You are still allowed to vote, but cannot recommend anyone vote for a particular candidate.
Please reply to this email if you accept nomination for the elections committee. Nominations close by October 16, 2023. Once the window closes, the committee will arrange their first meeting.
